Uganda wins against Ghana to qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar

Uganda’s U-17 team (the Cubs) defeated Ghana’s U-17 (the Black Starlets) 8-7 on penalties in a thrilling FIFA U-17 World Cup qualification playoff in Rabat. After a 2-2 draw in regular time, Uganda advanced to the World Cup in Qatar, extending Ghana’s qualification absence to nine years.

Manager Dynamics: The Ugandan side was coached by Laryea Kingston, a former Ghana international who resigned due to interference in his job.

Kingston was a talented footballer himself, representing Ghana at the junior and youth levels on the world stage.

He also played for the Black Stars, but was left out of the squad that qualified for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
