The Ghana Taekwondo Federation held its much-publicized 2026 Elective Congress on Saturday, July 18, at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.
In the peaceful but tense elections, Incumbent Frederick Lartey Otu floored his opponent to retain his position, while a new Vice President and Executives were elected.
Charles T. Cromwell accepted defeat in good faith. “I lost but am still in the sport of Taekwondo, and ready to support the new executives, congratulations, Mr. President,” he said
Frederick Lartey, in his acceptance speech, thanked all delegates and urged everyone to contribute to a brighter future. He named the new Secretary General and urged everyone to forget about the Elections and forge ahead into new challenges. He advised the media to report exactly what happened and promised to make some appointments to support the executive. He wished everyone a safe journey to wherever they were coming from.
President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Richard Akpokavie, who was sworn in as the new executive board of Ghana Taekwondo, tasked them to support Henrietta Armah, who is on an Olympic Solidarity Scholarship to qualify and do well at the next Olympic Games in LA 2028.
