Mr. Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana, as well as the African Paralympic Committee (APC), has fulfilled his promise of financially rewarding para athletes who climb the podium at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The General Secretary of the Ghana Paralympic Committee, Henry Larbi, on behalf of the President of the Ghana Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen, on Tuesday presented a cash prize of Two Thousand Pounds to Para-Athlete Zinabu Issa in fulfillment of a promise made to the team ahead of the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
According to Mr. Deen, every medalist will get a Special Target Podium Medal Bonus for Ghana’s para athletes at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
A Gold medalist gets £3,000, a silver medalist will get £2,000, and a bronze winner goes home with £1,000.
The first recipient is Zinabu Issah, who received £2,000 after winning Ghana’s first medal, a Silver in the Women’s T57 Shot Putt.
President Deen says the initiative is aimed at rewarding excellence, motivating athletes, and ensuring Ghana’s para stars receive the recognition they deserve. He also revealed plans to expand the programme ahead of the LA28 Paralympic Games through the Follow My Athlete Scheme.
