RightSet Ghana Takes WTTD Celebration to Schools Across Accra to Promote Grassroots Sport Development

RightSet Ghana expanded its 2026 World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) celebrations beyond traditional competition spaces by bringing the sport directly into schools across Accra, reinforcing its commitment to grassroots sport development and youth engagement.

As part of this year’s celebration under the theme “Health and Well-Being,” the organization hosted interactive table tennis activations in selected schools, engaging young students through structured and enjoyable learning experiences. The outreach began at The New Page School in Kokomlemle on April 22 and continued at Dominion School in Lakeside on April 23.

The initiative, organized by RightSet Ghana with support from the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Foundation, Spinsight, and the Ghana Table Tennis Federation, forms part of a global movement to make table tennis more accessible, inclusive, and impactful for young people in diverse community settings.

At both schools, students were introduced to the fundamentals of table tennis through guided drills, demonstrations, and friendly matches. The sessions created an energetic and inclusive environment where students actively participated, learned new skills, and experienced the joy of the sport.

The activations were led by Project Manager Samira Mensah and Founder Gifty Appiah, a 2023–2026 International Olympic Committee (IOC) Young Leader and a World Table Tennis Day promoter. Samira Mensah played a central role in planning and coordinating the school outreach, ensuring the smooth delivery of activities across both locations. Her dedication, alongside the tireless efforts of the RightSet Ghana team, was instrumental in delivering a well-organized and impactful programme.

RightSet Ghana also expresses its sincere appreciation to the headteachers and staff of The New Page School and Dominion School for their warm reception, cooperation, and commitment to supporting sport and physical activity within their schools. Their support was essential to the success of the activations.

Organizers emphasized that introducing table tennis at the school level is essential for long-term athlete development and social impact. By engaging students early, the initiative aims to nurture emerging talent while promoting key values such as discipline, teamwork, resilience, and confidence. It also significantly improves students’ physical and mental well-being, in line with the focus of World Table Tennis Day.

These school activations were integral to RightSet Ghana’s broader World Table Tennis Day celebrations, demonstrating how sport can be effectively used as a tool for education, inclusion, and community development.
