Three former players of Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak were at the Omashi Media Studio on Wednesday to reveal their current roles in football.
CAF Licensed coach, the dreaded midfielder with the art of scoring long-range goals, Lawrence Adjah Tetteh, attacking midfielder, Charles Allotey, and clinical striker Wisdom Abbey disclosed that they are no longer playing active football, but imparting their knowledge on the new generation at the Base Estates Football Academy, founded by Bro Joe Nii Odartey Lamptey.
Bro Joe, who is the CEO of Base Pharmacy and a staunch football fan, has founded the Division Three club, which is technically directed by former Hearts players.
According to head trainer Lawrence Adjah Tetteh, who has his own football academy, they scout and groom the kids and later send them to Base Estate Academy.
Charles Allotey said all kids from age 5 are welcome, while Wisdom Abbey said they can turn people with no football skill or talent into stars because they teach or turn raw talent into gems.
They revealed planning to come up with a project to teach interested people on playing football easily with no stress.
They were part of the famous 64 Battalion of Accra Hearts of Oak, who ruled Ghana and Africa in the 2000s era, and predicted that the Black Stars are going to perform well at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
They also support Ghanaian coaches working outside, like Laryea Kingston in Uganda and Kwesi Appiah in Sudan.
“It’s about work and contract, we will all appreciate landing such contracts to work outside, but for now we are at Base and taking it from there to the world,” Tetteh said.
