Achimota Golf Club to Host Pink Cup 2025 in Support of Breast Cancer Awareness

Every October, communities around the world come together to raise awareness for breast cancer, a disease that affects millions of women and men globally. In Ghana, one of the most impactful contributions to this cause comes from the fairways and greens of the Achimota Golf Club in Accra.

The Club’s Ladies Section is proud to announce the return of its annual Pink Cup Tournament, scheduled to take place on Saturday, 18th October 2025. More than just a sporting event, the Pink Cup has become a symbol of solidarity, compassion, and proactive healthcare advocacy.

The Pink Cup was conceived as a unique way to use sport, particularly golf, as a means of community engagement and support for those affected by breast cancer. Over the years, it has grown in both scope and impact.

The 2024 edition marked a significant milestone for the initiative: dozens of individuals received free breast cancer screening, and a total of GH₵40,000 was donated to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Breast Surgical Unit, helping to fund critical treatment and surgical interventions. This remarkable achievement underscored the power of community-led action and highlighted the tournament’s potential to effect meaningful change.

Building on this momentum, the 2025 edition of the Pink Cup promises to be even more ambitious. The organizers are aiming to extend the reach of their screening program, provide greater support to patients undergoing treatment, and elevate public awareness around early detection and care. The theme for this year’s tournament, “Golfing for Hope, Health & Humanity,” captures the heart of the event’s mission.

Kous Louanges Mang, Lady captain of the Achimota Golf Club and the lead organizer from the Ladies Section, indicated that “Golf is more than a game for us, it is a platform to change lives. With the Pink Cup, we are combining sport, health, and community to stand with those affected by breast cancer.” This sentiment resonates deeply, especially in a country where awareness and access to preventive healthcare services are still growing.

The Pink Cup 2025 will feature a full day of activities designed to engage, educate, and inspire. Golfers of all levels will compete in friendly yet competitive rounds, while attendees, especially golfers, will have the opportunity to participate in breast cancer awareness talks and take advantage of on-site free screenings.

In keeping with tradition, everyone is encouraged to wear pink, a color that has come to symbolize unity, strength, and hope in the fight against breast cancer. Beyond the event itself, the Pink Cup serves as a call to action.

The Achimota Golf Club ladies’ win, led by Kous Louanges Ma, is therefore appealing to corporate organizations, health institutions, NGOs, and individuals to support the cause through sponsorships, partnerships, and active participation. Whether through financial contributions, donations in kind, or simply showing up in support, every gesture counts.

The Achimota Golf Club’s Pink Cup is more than a tournament. It is a testament to what can happen when sport and service come together. It’s a reminder that awareness saves lives and that by uniting on the golf course, we can drive real change off it.

As the date draws near, all eyes will be on the greens of Achimota. The 2025 Pink Cup is not just about winning trophies; it’s about making a difference. Potential sponsors should contact the lady captain at the Achimota Golf Club or contact her – 0240882310
