Nigerian Boxer passes during a fight at Bukom Boxing Arena.

Nigerian Boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun passes during a fight at Bukom Boxing Arena.
A Nigerian boxer, Gabriel Olusewagun Olanrewaju (13 -8-2), met his untimely death on Saturday, March 29, 202, when he was fighting Ghana’s Jon Power Mbanugu in an international (undercard) contest on the Ghana Professional Boxing League at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
In the interesting bout, which saw both boxers sizing each other and delivering good jabs, Olusewagun, who is 40 years old, suddenly went back when no punch hit him and fell on the ropes, leading to the canvas.
Ringside doctor and referee Richard Amevi had to rush in to remove the gum shield from his mouth, call for assistance, put him in an ambulance, and take him to the Korlebu hospital nearby.
News that reached me later said he has passed.
It was very sad because he was putting up a good show.
Gabriel Oluwasegun was a former National and West African light-heavyweight.
Yours Truly want to advise boxers to be well conditioned before taking up challenges to fight and they should stay very fit always checking on their Blood Pressure and other health issues frequently.
Jon Mbanugu (13-1-), who was declared winner by a knock out, said he was excited with the win, but sad on the way his opponent went down. Jo, aka Power,22, has increased his record to 13 wins, one draw, and one loss.
