The pairing for the preliminary stage of the 2026/2027 MTN FA Cup was held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the Conference Room of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The brief but effective ceremony was attended by Frank Nelson, Vice President of the FA Cup Committee, Afo Dodoo, and Samuel Aboabri, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (RFA), as well as some club representatives plus a few media.
The programme proved to be exciting as some of the pairings featured popular clubs.
10 zones were declared, and some of the clubs’ names suggest the competition must be monitored by tight security. MTN is happy to be associated with the FA Cup because it is played in every region of Ghana.
According to Frank Nelson, the focus for this year is the community; the chiefs and people must be involved to come out to cheer their favourite clubs and players.
Frank Nelson stressed that for this year there will be a two-legged final to give opportunities to clubs playing at home and a chance for fans to feel their players and tournament.
He said, “The two-legged final is a pilot project; however, if it works, it goes on. We expect the 46 Division One and 44 Division Two clubs who are vying for the opportunity to put up a good performance before the Premier clubs join to determine who wins”.
MTN is always expanding and doing great in sports, entertainment, education, health and economic empowerment.
MTN and the FA Cup are on the same level because there is no libilibi in the fierce competition; it is strictly serious business, and the slogan is always “Obia Ye Obia”.
The winner gets MTN souvenirs, cash, and represents Ghana in the next CAF competition. Nations FC are the defending champions, so Division One and Division Two clubs have the opportunity to win and represent the nation.
The real action for the competition starts on 23rd October 2026; all chiefs and communities must get involved to watch matches like John Paintsil FC versus Nania FC and other local rivalries.
We hope and pray for a peaceful competition under the theme: My MTN FA Cup, My Community.
Watch out for the full fixtures.
