The Ag CAF General Secretary, Samson Adamu, and GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku have led a delegation to engage the Hon. Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, and other key officials to reaffirm Ghana’s commitment to elevating its football infrastructure and fostering grassroots talent.
The discussions highlighted Ghana’s unwavering dedication to becoming a premier host for major African and international tournaments. Hon Kofi Adams emphasized the vital role of football in uniting the nation, acknowledging both the challenges and immense opportunities in harnessing the sport’s power to foster national pride. “Football is big and contributes significantly to fostering national unity,” he stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to developing strong structures for grassroots and school sports, recognizing Ghana’s abundant talent pool.
CAF’s General Secretary, Adamu, expressed confidence in Ghana’s potential and assured full support for its development efforts. “Trust us any day and time because Ghana is home, and we expect your guidance to succeed,” he said. He also urged Ghana to prioritize upgrading its football infrastructure, including pitches and facilities, to enhance its prospects of securing hosting rights for future tournaments.
CAF pledged technical assistance to help Ghana improve its sports infrastructure, emphasizing that the development of quality facilities is essential for gaining international hosting opportunities. Adamu encouraged the country to prepare a comprehensive strategic proposal for future tournaments, underscoring the importance of infrastructure readiness.
As Ghana builds on this momentum, the collaborative efforts between the GFA, government, and CAF signal a bright future for Ghanaian football, one that could see the country hosting major international tournaments and nurturing the next generation of football stars.
