The Ghana Education Service (GES) has set October 5, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of outstanding documents needed to facilitate the payment of salaries and arrears owed to newly promoted teachers.
The move follows concerns over delays in processing payments for teachers who have been promoted but are yet to receive their salaries at their new grades.
The outstanding documents include promotion letters and input forms required by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) to complete the payment process.
Reports indicate that information on only 6,079 teachers had been submitted for processing out of more than 58,000 expected promotions, leaving thousands of teachers awaiting the completion of the process.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has directed the GES to submit the remaining information to the CAGD by 4 p.m. on October 5.
The directive is aimed at ensuring that the affected teachers are captured in the payroll system and receive the salaries and arrears due to them.
The development comes as affected teachers continue to call for the timely resolution of the payment challenges.
