Holy Dorgbetor loses on points to Muhamet Qamili at WBC Grand Prix

Ghanaian featherweight prospect Holy Dorgbetor lost to his Abanian opponent Muhamet Qamili over six rounds, recording a unanimous decision.

Qamili (16-0, 7KOs) advances to the quarter finals of the competition.

At Dorgbetor’s corner was a crack Ghanaian technical team led by Charles Quartey, including his trainer, Laryea aka Coach Lion.

The Ace Power Promotions boxer put up an amazing performance in the hot action packed pound for pound and blow-for-blow fight. Qamili seems ahead on points from the first round, but Dorgbetor was late in catching up.

Muhamet Qamili of Albania,  who is representing Italy, came in as a very tough customer, with fast hands and advanced with pressure.

He recovered well to outbox and earn a unanimous decision: 60-53, 59-54, 59-54 to hand a first career defeat to Dorgbetor.

Shakul Same, who represented Ghana at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as a middleweight, won his round of 16 clash with a devastating knockout against Australia’s Jude Grant (8-1, 2 KOs) on Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The WBC Grand Prix is a special tournament for budding champions with medals, trophies, and cash prizes at stake.
