Holy Dorgbetor is ready for the next stage of the WBC Grand Prix on June 21

Holy Dorgbetor gets ready and set for the next stage of the WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh on 21st June 2025. He has intensified his training and strategy for the next bout against Muhamet Quamili.

Five Ghanaian boxers took off in the bill at the 2025 WBC Grand Prix in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 17th to 22nd  April.

The professional boxers were Holy Dorgbetor,  Enoch Tetteh, Samuel Quaye and Gabriel Cofi, and Olympian Shakur Samir.

Dorgbetor was the only one who won and has qualified for the next stage of the competition, which has cash, medals, and a title belt at stake.

The ‘Holy’ camp is set on a mission, and this is the stage and time to let the world know them very well.

He reached this stage by beating the Ukrainian champion at the round of 32, and in the 1/16th, where he hopes to push hard to the 1/8, quarters, semifinals, and the grand final. He will be fighting for bragging rights and other opportunities.

The selection to represent at the Grand Prix came out with a competitive pool of 128 fighters across 41 countries who stepped into the ring for a shot at global stardom in what promised to be one of the biggest boxing spectacles.

WBC Grand Prix, organised by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Season sports initiative, is a groundbreaking competition designed to unearth the next generation of boxing superstars.

A long-cherished vision of the late WBC President Don José Sulaimán, this event is billed as the first-ever Boxing World Cup and features four weight divisions: Featherweight, Super Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight.

With 32 fighters in each category, the tournament adopts a straight knockout format, spanning five rounds across the year. Unlike conventional boxing events, there will be no draws – every bout must produce a winner.
