Mr. Samuel Aboabri, aka ‘Kattah’, chairman of the Greater Accra Football Association (RFA), has urged Ghanaians to come to the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday to support the Black Stars as they play against Gambia after losing to Côte d’Ivoire in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
A member of the Black Stars management committee said the Black Stars is the only national team that Ghanaians have and, despite the recent setbacks, the team can return to winning ways if they are inspired and supported well.
He also thanked the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for promising to provide balls, boots and other kits to colts clubs.
He was, however, sad over the lack of football pitches and the poor nature of some astro turfs which were built for community activities.
He expressed that the Colts Football name was changed to Juvenile Football and later Grassroots Football, but it has now reverted and is still known as Colts Football after President John Dramani Mahama questioned the whereabouts of the attractive competitions involving young players.
Kattah noted that Ghana has quality footballers but lacks good playing fields.
According to Kattah, there are over 200 clubs in the 12 zones that he supervises.
He said the champions who emerge after the season play in a competition, and the winner represents the region in the national KGL Colts tournament.
“I believe the media has helped a lot in promoting this year’s KGL championship, and we are going to enjoy the tournament,” he said.
