4th Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon launched at Zimansky Hotel, Roman Ridge

The fourth edition of the Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon has been launched at an impressive ceremony at the Zimansky Hotel in Roman Ridge, Accra.

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has commended organizers and sponsors for maintaining momentum and contributing to the sports-resetting agenda.

He encouraged the youth to participate in the Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon for all its benefits.

Mr. Louis Morton explained why Tampico is committed to supporting the half marathon in Accra and declared that October 10 should be Tampico Marathon Day.

According to Race Director William Ezah, GHC 100,000 will be at stake to be shared among the best and outstanding runners, skaters and para-athletes. He expressed that security and Safety would be taken care of, as well as a national ambulance following athletes and on standby at the endpoint.

He urged sports fans to join the race for fun with families, friends and fans.

“We expect about 2,000 runners and 200 stakeholders plus the wheelchair para athletes to create massive excitement,” he stated.

The marathon has been divided into 21km for elite athletes and 5 km for everyone.

Henry Senyo Penni, General Manager of Medivents Consult, said the Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon is more than a marathon race as it goes beyond sports to promote tourism, culture and creating competition opportunities. Networking and expansion of business.

The event will start from the Trust Sports Emporium, aka Bukom Boxing Arena, and end at the same venue after runners have gone around parts of the capital.

Mr. Bismark Twum said Tampico is investing in the future of Ghanaian sports, and he gave some of the benefits of drinking Tampico.

The CEO of Ghana Athletics, Mr. Ahmed Baffoe, said the event stands a chance of recognition and labeling by World Athletics and will feature as a major race on the sports calendar.

He revealed that the bibs of runners will bear a chip that will record accurate distance covered and timing.

Botsyo Nkegbe shared his thoughts on including para athletes in the Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon and the joy it gives them.

Mr. Tandoh of MYST water said they are on board with the healthy venture to replenish and replace runners’ lost energy with water that contains vitamins and minerals.

“We know it is a local marathon event, but soon it will be global, and that is the reason why MYST water is part of this event,” he noted.

A representative of Capelli Sportswear said they are promoting the marathon with quality and internationally recognised equipment.

Congratulations to Race Director William Ezah and General Manager of Medivents Consult, Senyo Penni.

Present at the launch were a representative of the Ghana Police Service and some athletes who will participate.

The 4th Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon is supported by MYST Water, MAPHLIX, GWO SEVO, SOCCA BOX, Ethiopian Airways, Capelli Sport and Zimansky Hotel.
