The Dome at the University of Ghana, Legon in Accra was the ideal venue for the ITTF Africa Hopes Week & Challenge Africa 2026 Tournament.
The intensive six-day training and championship was organised by ITTF Africa for young players from 22 countries.
The ITTF Hopes Week & Challenge Africa 2026 is a programme to encourage and sustain interest in the game.
Two top ITTF officials, Ms Eva Jeler and Mikael Andersson, who were in Ghana to supervise the programme, commanded the whole organization and patronage. They said Africa has talent and Africa is the future of the sport.
Uganda’s Joseph Sebatindira and Egypt’s Zeina Ayma Mohammed played the best to emerge champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories, respectively, at the 2026 ITTF-Africa Hopes Week and Challenge, which ended on Saturday.
Ghana’s Ransford Antwi made it to the podium by placing fourth.
According to the President of Ghana Table Tennis, Mawuko Afadzinu, there is more room for improvement, but it takes dedication, hard work, and discipline to be among the best.
He thanked the ITTF Africa for allowing Ghana to host and register more players. Certificates and medals, as well as trophies, were presented to the winners.
Another African Juniors Championship will take place at the Borteyman Sports Complex from this week
