Ghana’s Sports Minister Kofi Adams seeks divine intervention for Black Stars ahead of the World Cup

The pastor reportedly told him the team is “dead and in the mortuary.”

The congregation still went ahead and prayed for them.

Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, on Sunday visited the Believers Worship Center (Philadelphia Church) led by Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah.

The Sports Minister attended to seek spiritual blessings and prayers for the national football team, the Black Stars, as the team prepared for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He told the congregation about the venues where Ghana will play, namely, Toronto, Boston, and Philadelphia.

Minister Kofi Adams asked the congregation to pray for the team’s victory, claiming they were relying on God to succeed despite public doubts.

Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah reportedly stated to the Minister that the national team was “dead and in the mortuary,” but the congregation still offered prayers on their behalf. He expressed his joy that, for the first time, a sports minister has visited the church.

The pastor who is popularly known as Philadelphia predicted glory for the national team of Ghana, as Lazarus was delivered in the Bible.

The Sports and Recreation Minister’s visit has sparked mixed reactions. While some citizens appreciate spiritual backing, others argue that football matches are won through proper tactical discipline, hard work, and preparation on the pitch rather than spiritual interventions.
