Renowned Ghanaian visual artist Ibrahim Mahama has been invited to a meeting with the Police Management Board as part of investigations into an alleged assault on him by officers of the IGP’s Special Operations Team.
The update was shared in a viral video on March 26, 2026, as part of efforts to establish the facts of the alleged assault and ensure accountability.
According to the post, the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, invited both Mahama and the Northern Regional Police Commander to Accra to assist with an ongoing probe into the matter.
The incident reportedly occurred on March 21, 2026, involving a group identified as the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team, commonly known as the “Black Mara”.
The team, led by Abdul Bawa Jalil, has denied any involvement in the alleged assault, insisting that its personnel were not engaged in the incident.
However, the matter has been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau, the internal body responsible for investigating misconduct within the Ghana Police Service.
The high-level management with the Police Management Board is expected to provide further clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident, as authorities work to determine the veracity of the claims and any potential misconduct.
Police authorities have indicated that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
