Awumey Nelson (3-0) of the Bronx Boxing Club has called out Joseph Antwi for a Heavyweight Showdown.
He said during their amateur days, Antwi wanted his ‘son,’ and now that they are fighting professionals, he wants to knock him so that he will be carried out of the ring.
Nii Anorsah Antwi, who has an unblemished record in four bouts, has, of late, been the most active heavyweight.
He trains at the Wisdom Boxing Gym under Coach Dr. Ofori Asare, where other ambitious young boxers are building themselves up for fame and fortune in boxing.
Contests between popular boxers from established gyms are much patronised, and this fight would be great to watch.
Having interacted with and interviewed the two boxers, I would be excited to watch the big, tall Nelson stand toe to toe with the short, quick, smart puncher, aka Junior Bazooka.
He takes some inspiration from former WBA Lightweight Champion Ike Bazooka Quartey and believes he can become a champion, hence choosing boxing.
It is a real testing time for both boxers. The winner should crack the national title held by Osumanu Haru, aka ‘Saabo’.
‘Saabo’ lost his WBO Africa Heavyweight title in Tanzania to Frank Shagembe via a round 3 TKO after the Ghanaian could not continue due to a hand injury in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, on New Year’s. Eve
