
The boxing community in Accra showed massive love for the late 32-year-old jovial boxer, Ernest Akushey, aka Bahubali, last Sunday. October 5 with a massive health walk from Chorkor Tea Garden to Osu and back.
Leading the walk was former IBO World Lightweight Champion Emmanuel Tagoe, aka Game Boy. Joseph Comme, aka Jaguar, Abubakar Kamoko, aka Ambitious Tilapia. Michael Ansa, aka One Bullet, Isaac Sackey, Patrick Allotey, Michael Darko, Michael Abban, Henry Malm, and Abraham Mensah. Abigail Quartey and some popular personalities in Chorkor, Korle Gonno Mamprobi, and Jamestown.
As the walking crowd moved, more people joined, and it became thick in Accra Central, where many young and old boxers, as well as coaches and matchmakers, also showed up.
The media and bloggers were in action to bring the latest information and pictures.
The fans, including many females who were clad in special Bahubali tee shirts in different colours and designs, walked, danced, and jogged for almost six hours to make the event memorable and appreciated.
Also in the crowd were local politicians from the NDC party who used the occasion to introduce themselves and ask for votes.
Ben Osei Boateng, a close friend of Bahubali, told Yours Truly he was sad but became happy after the walk due to the massive participation and affection displayed by everyone.
“Wow. I didn’t know many people loved Bahubal. We thank God for everything that has happened, and we pray for strength and ideas to give him a fitting burial. He has a four-month-old baby. We pray that he would be taken care of concerning his educationespecially” he expressed.
