The MTN Media Republic, in collaboration with the Ghana Wildlife Society, has organized an interesting bird-and-butterfly walk-and-watch experience at the Legon Botanical Gardens on Saturday, August 29.
The walk was led by the Executive Director of the Ghana Wildlife Society, Dr. Sandra Owusu-Gyamfi, who urged Ghanaians to find alternatives for plastics use at homes, offices, and everywhere there are living things.
She spoke about how microplastics and other waste products are destroying marine life.
She said birds are special species of creation that have their own liberty, and much can be learnt from them by humans.
Mrs. Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Acting General Manager of Sustainability at MTN, said the exercise is part of activities in the month of sustainability, and she revealed that MTN is really practising sustainability by installing solar panels for electricity generation at their offices and MTN House, practising waste recycling with governance and ethical guidance.
“The feeling is healing, and we feel good doing small actions to create a big impact,” she expressed.
Ms. Efua Falcona, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications Department of MTN, said that, as innovative as they are, the company is always trying to be abreast of the times and wants their media colleagues to be on the same pace and platform.
Naa Dzagble Ago Quaye, President of the MTN Media Republic, commended all the honourable members who turned up for the event, which was educative, interactive, exotic, inspiring, physically beneficial, and a moment of understanding and feeling nature.
