Stonebwoy rallies support for Black Challenge, presents GHC100,000 to players

The ace reggae dancehall artist said he has walked before and that nothing about disability is funny.

Stonebwoy reiterated this during a courtesy visit to Ghana’s National Amputee Football Team, the Black Challenge, at the Mensah Sarbah Park, University of Ghana, last Friday, as the team prepares for the #2026WAFFWorldCup in Mexico.

He tried his legs on the ball and donated GHC100,000 to the team.

Mrs Farida Iddris, an executive member of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) and Ghana Swimming Association, received the amount alongside the team captain.

According to Stonebwoy, nothing about disability is funny, and those who make fun of them are not mature and ignorant.

He urged the Black Challenge to go all out to win the World Cup. He expressed that the Black Challenge faces different challenges in life, but their challenges could be blessings for other people.

He noted that Ghanaians must support the Black Challenge as they did for the Black Stars.

Ghana’s Black Challenge has won three continental titles since 2021. 2023 and 2025, and now they want to go global by winning the World Cup in Mexico. They have tried-and-tested players who are hungry for honours.

The Black Challenge are expected to travel to Turkey to engage in final preparations before moving to San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico.

Ghana is in the same group with Iraq, Angola and Colombia.

Mr. Samson Deen, president of the African Paralympic Committee (APC), believes Ghana will excel at the championship.
