Eezzy Group Foundation presents 800,000ghc sponsorship package to Team Ghana for Glasgow 2026

Eezzy Group Foundation has presented an amount of 800,000 GHC to Team Ghana, preparing for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The presentation took place on Tuesday at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, in a ceremony under the theme “Backing Champions, Building National Pride”.

Mr. Mohammed Raii, Chairman of Eezzy Group, prayed that sports should be part of the resetting agenda of President John Dramani Mahama. He urged the team to do well to attract others.

Mr. Samson Deen, President of the Ghana National Paralympic Committee, who initiated the package, hoped that Team Ghana would excel and climb the podium at the Games. He noted that when athletes are well-treated, they perform well.

Mr. Ernest Danso, Chef de Mission of Team Ghana, was optimistic that Ghana would reap medals with 40 athletes taking part in Boxing, Athletics, Weightlifting, Cycling, Swimming, and Para sports.

Ms Betty Mensah Krosby, who represented the Minister of Sports and Recreation, commended Eezzy Group and inspired the athletes to go and show that they are champions from Ghana.

Captain Smart of Onua TV fame, in an address, hinted that sports are a valuable unifier and that Ghana can benefit a lot from more investment in sports.

Present were the Secretary General of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Muniru Kassim, the Vice President, Mawuko Afadzinu, Executive Board members Nana Adu Mankattah, Kamal Sulley, Delphina Quaye, and Communications Director Charles Osei Asibey, who was the MC of the ceremony.

Some members of the NPC at the event were Ignatius Elletey, Henry Larbie, Mike Wes, and para athletes who are going to represent Ghana at the Games. like Tahiru Haruna, Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, and Zinabu Issah.

In attendance were some Black Bombers, notably Mathias Ashitey and their officials, Charles Quartey and Mustapha Nettey. Judo was represented by Elkanah Dodoo and their Secretary. Weightlifting Coach Michael Abotsi was also present.

The Immigration band and National Supporters Union entertained guests with music.

The Commonwealth Games are from July 23 to August 2, 2026.
