
Ashanti Region played a determined game to beat Eastern Region 4-3 in a pulsating final at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Friday to lift the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship trophy. Elvis Kwarteng was adjudged the MVP in the final match.
Central Region, which produced the best player of the tournament took the 3rd-place by defeating Brong Ahafo Region 3-0.
The tournament was organised by the Ghana Football Association and sponsored by telecom giant MTN.
Kelvin Osei Owusu of Ashanti Region was named Best Goalkeeper at the MTN Elite U-19 Championship.
Central Region’s Desmond Korletey was named Best Player of the Tournament at the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship.
Desmond Adjei of Greater Accra finished as top scorer with six goals at the MTN Elite U-19 Championship, including the tournament’s only hat-trick.
Ashanti Region’s Raphael Amankwaa who was named Best Coach at the MTN Elite U-19 Championship was very happy for the sweet revenge against Eastern Region.
The U -19 tournament has been hailed by many football fans as a good initiative to develop and promote youth football, while MTN Ghana has received tons of commendation for sponsoring.
