Alhaji Abdullai Pangusur of Freight Consult (your total logistics) has donated 10,000 GHC to the Ghana youth boxing team, Black Rockets, in appreciation of their achievement at the 2025 African Youth Boxing Championship in Guinea.
The three young boxers, led by Coach Joseph Martey, won three gold medals and the third-place trophy at the African Boxing Youth Championship held in Conakry, Guinea.
Tunisia was first, while South Africa placed second.
The Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) Alhaji Dauda Fuseni said they coukd have gone with more boxers and won many medals but they were not financially sound so he appealed to companies to support the team who will be preparing for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal and the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Scotland.
Head trainer of the Black Rocket, Coach Charles Quart, said the government must be proactive and motivate the young boxers ahead of championships, and not for them to struggle before they wait to receive medals.
He said boxing is much more difficult than football, yet footballers who do not win or make Ghanaians happy are supported with taxpayers’ money.
