President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to take a firm position on global injustices, stressing that non-alignment should not be interpreted as neutrality.
He said the movement must remain committed to defending peace, justice, sovereignty and the rights of nations and people affected by conflicts and oppression.
President Mahama noted that although the global political landscape has changed since NAM was established, developing countries continue to face challenges that require collective action.
He called on member states to move beyond declarations and strengthen cooperation in addressing issues such as conflicts, economic inequality, climate change and development.
The President also urged NAM countries to work together to ensure that international law is applied fairly and consistently, particularly in situations involving humanitarian crises.
He said Ghana remains committed to the founding principles of the movement and will continue to support efforts aimed at building a more peaceful, fair and equitable international order.
