The Ghana Water Limited (GWCL) has announced that parts of Accra, Tema, and surrounding communities will experience temporary interruptions in water supply and reduced water pressure as the company undertakes planned maintenance works on the Kpong-Tema transmission pipelines.
The maintenance exercise, scheduled from Thursday, August 6 to Saturday, August 8, 2026, is part of efforts by GWCL to improve the reliability and efficiency of the water distribution system and ensure a more sustainable supply for customers.
According to the company, some affected communities may experience a complete interruption of water supply, while others may receive water at lower pressure throughout the maintenance period.
Residents within the affected areas have been advised to store enough water in advance and manage their available supply carefully until normal water flow is restored.
GWCL has assured the public that its technical team will work diligently to complete the exercise within the scheduled timeframe and restore regular water supply as soon as possible.
The company has also appealed for public cooperation, explaining that the maintenance work is necessary to strengthen the water supply system and improve service delivery to customers.
