Ghana in mourning: Eight lives lost in a helicopter crash at Adansi Akrofuom

A military helicopter has reportedly gone down in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, causing the death of Minister of Defense, Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mutala Muhammed, and six others.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, triggering a swift response from emergency teams who are currently at the crash site. The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) announced in a statement that a Z-9 helicopter disappeared from radar after taking off on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The aircraft was en route to Obuasi when contact was lost.
