A new chapter has begun for traders and residents of Sabon Zongo in the Ablekuma Central Municipality, as the proposed 24-Hour Model Market and Commercial Centre moves from plans to action.
The Parliament of Ghana and the Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly carried out the official handover of the project site, clearing the way for construction work to commence.
The project is being undertaken under the supervision of Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), with Passpaakay Enterprise Limited as the contractor.
The occasion brought together key stakeholders, including Hon. Abdul Latif Dan, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, and Hon. Frank Nkansah, Municipal Chief Executive for Ablekuma Central.
For the people of Sabon Zongo, the project represents more than the construction of another market. It is envisioned as a modern commercial centre that will support the 24-Hour Economy, create opportunities for traders and businesses, and inject greater economic activity into the municipality.
Religious leaders also took part in the engagement, underscoring the importance of community leadership in a project located within the Sabon Zongo community.
The atmosphere surrounding the handover reflected growing expectations that the project will bring a more organised and modern trading environment while opening new opportunities for entrepreneurs, traders and service providers.
With the site now officially in the hands of Passpaakay Enterprise Limited, the focus shifts to construction and delivery.
For Ablekuma Central, the handover is not simply the transfer of a piece of land to a contractor—it is the beginning of a project expected to reshape commerce in Sabon Zongo and contribute to the municipality’s economic future.
