You Have To Be Disciplined To Become A Champion – Samson Deen cautions athletes going to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow

Mr. Samson Deen, President of the Africa Paralympic Committee (APC)  / Ghana National Paralympic Committee (NPC), has advised athletes going to the 2026 Commonwealth Games to be disciplined if they want to climb the podium.

He advised that it is not the duty of national athletes to be writing letters for sponsorship or going on radio and TV to seek support, when they have administrators and managers, but they have to focus on their training and performance.

Speaking at the presentation of a GHC800,000 sponsorship package from Eezzy Group Foundation to Team Ghana, he expressed belief in the athletes who are going to represent the nation.

Samson Deen promised the nation that the para athletes are going to win medals, naming Tahiru Haruna, Rapheal Botsyo Nkegbe, Hayford, and Zinabu Issah.

“I have the feeling that this team will do well, go and make Ghana proud. Discipline is the only answer to success in sports,” he said.

Ghana will be represented by 40 athletes drawn from Para Swimming (1), Para Athletics (3), and Para Powerlifting (1). Others are Track & Field (13), Swimming (4), Judo (2), Track Cycling (2), Weightlifting (4), and Boxing (10).

Mr. Ernest Danso, the Chef De Mission (CDM) to Glasgow 2026, also assured that Team Ghana will definitely bring medals because they have prepared well. He hinted that THB, a local sportswear manufacturing company, will clothe the athletes and officials.

Captain Smart, a broadcaster at TV3 and Onua TV, urged the athletes to go and do well for Ghana, as their victories go a long way to unite the nation when Ghanaians enjoy the performance of their stars.

He charged other corporate bodies to support sportsmen and women who are going out to represent the nation at big events like the Commonwealth Games.

Eezzy Group Foundation’s commitment of cash investment towards Ghana’s participation in the Commonwealth Games reflects the power of corporate Ghana in backing national sporting excellence and inspiring athletes to chase greatness on the international stage.

The presentation took place at La Palm Royal Beach Hotel and was graced by Executive board members of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and National Paralympic Committee (NPC), guests from Eezzy Group Foundation, as well as the media and sports enthusiasts.
