The long-awaited Sempe School, which was halted for years, is finally set to commence, as promised by the Hon. Alfred Ashie Kotey, Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo constituency. In an interview on Jamestown TV, he said the construction will take effect on the 16th day of July 2026.
On a follow-up by the Omashi Media report team, we noticed a fence being built around the school and a heap of stones dumped on the school site, which indicates that preparations are underway for the project to commence.

The development has brought renewed hope to residents of Sempe and the surrounding communities, many of whom have waited for several years to see work resume on the abandoned school project. They believe the completion of the school will improve access to quality education for children in the area.
A resident, Mary Sarfoa Okine, who spoke on the development, expressed her excitement about the progress at the school site. She said residents have been looking forward to the return of construction work and hope the project will be completed to benefit children and future generations.
Community members have expressed hope that the revival of the project will bring development to the area and provide more opportunities for children within the community. They believe the completion of the school will be a major step towards improving education and creating a positive future for young learners.
Some residents explained that the delay in completing the project has been a major concern over the years. They are therefore appealing to the relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that the construction continues without further interruptions.
The Omashi Media report team observed visible signs of preparation at the project site, including the construction of a fence and the presence of building materials. Residents say these developments give them hope that the long-awaited project is finally moving forward.
Community members are calling for proper monitoring and supervision of the project to ensure that it is completed according to the expected timeline. They believe the successful completion of the school will contribute greatly to the educational development of the area.
As residents await the official commencement of construction on 16 July 2026, there is renewed optimism that the abandoned Sempe School will soon become a completed educational facility, providing opportunities and a brighter future for children in the community.
