President of the Africa Paralympic Committee (APC), Mr. Samson Deen, has appealed to the corporate world to invest more in sports to support talents and make the world a better place to live.
Speaking at the La Palm Royal Hotel on Tuesday during the presentation of an GHC 800,000 sponsorship package to the Ghana Olympic Committee / Commonwealth Games Association Ghana ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the President of the Ghana National Paralympic Committee (NPC) expressed that if the sports bodies come together, they can present proposals to earn them huge investments, than individuals writing for or seeking support.
He revealed stopping his athletes from granting interviews in the media to appeal for sponsorship or support because that is not their job.
“They have to focus and train, while the management or officials look for support and sponsorship,” he expressed.
According to him, para athletes deserve better than begging, and they should be given better, proper attention and care so that they have the free peace of mind to perform.
He expressed that para athletes have always done well for Mother Ghana, and they deserve better.
Mr. Deen, who initiated the Eezzy Group Foundation sponsorship deal for Team Ghana at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, noted that he has charged his para athletes to do well to climb the podium, and they will reap rewards.
Ghana will participate in para swimming, para athletics, and para weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Some of the top stars to watch are Tahiru Haruna, Botsyo Nkegbe, Hayford, and Zinabu Issah.
In another development, Captain Smart of Onua TV fame has also called for more investment in sports, so that sportsmen and women can perform well. He also noted that sport unites the nation, so much attention must be given to sports development and promotions.
Mr. Ernest Danso, the Chef de Mission for Team Ghana, said 40 athletes will represent Ghana at this year’s Commonwealth Games
