
The National Boxing Teams, Black Bombers and Black Hitters have left Accra and landed in Belfast, Ireland, to prepare finally for the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The 10 boxers comprising seven males and three females under the guidance of Coach Dr. Ofori Asare and Daniel Lartekwei Lartey will be in a special training camp in Belfast together with other teams for three weeks before the Games begin on July 23 and end on August 2, 2026.
In an exclusive chat with Coach Charles Quartey, who will join the team later with other coaches and officials, he expressed that the boxers are in high spirits and ready to make names for themselves and the nation.
Before leaving, boxers like skipper Abdul Wahid Omar, Amadu Mohammed, Precious Akai Nettey, Ebenezer Ankrah, Daniel Plange, and Desmond Pappoe have assured Yours Truly that they will definitely climb the podium and be decorated with medals.
They were on The Big Fight Night show on Omashi TV for Ghanaians to know them and what they can do.
Meanwhile, Eezzy Group Foundation has on Tuesday presented a sponsorship package worth 800,000ghc to Team Ghana, and it has really motivated the boxing team.
Assistant Coach Ben Tetteh, aka ‘American man,’ is happy with the package and hopes the boxers will perform well to benefit.
Treasurer of the Ghana Boxing Federation, Mustapha Nettey, also believes the boxers are capable of raking in medals.
“We have prepared them very well from when they were Rockets till now that they are Bombers, and we know they will excel,” he said.
The three female boxers are Ramatu Quaye of the Ghana Police, Nancy Bamfo of the Ghana Army, and Adelaide Djarbatey of the Wisdom Boxing Club in Accra.
Team Ghana will be kitted by THB, a locally based sportswear firm.
