Colombia vs Ghana: 2026 FIFA World Cup @ Round 32 In Kansas City, USA

… Can The Black Stars Outshine Los Cafeteros?

The Black Stars will wear their ‘Ananse Web’ white jerseys on Friday against Colombia in the round of 32 fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the Kansas City Stadium in the USA.

This is the first time the West African country, blessed with football talent, faces the South American football powerhouse in the game, and it promises to be an entertaining encounter because it is the knockout stage where the best or winner who survives stays for the next round.

Ghana qualified by winning 1-0 against Panama, drawing 0-0 with England, and losing 1-2 to Croatia at the group stage, and much credit was given to some players, like goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, and Marvin Senaya.

Fatawu Issahaku, Ernest Nuamah, Thomas Brandon-Asante, Antoine Semenyo, Derek Luckassen, and Caleb Yirenyi also did well under the system of Coach Carlos Quieroz.

However, other players like skipper Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, Prince Adu, Elisha Owusu, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Goalie Ati Zigi have not utilized the chance given to them at the World Cup, and they need to step up.  Abdul Mumin, Augustine Boakye, Chris Bonsu Baah, and Joseph Annan are yet to hit the field

Much is not known about the Colombians, but once they are present at the biggest football festival, then it means they are good and can not be pushovers. Having won Group K, Colombia will face Ghana in the Round of 32 on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Kansas City Stadium in Kansas City.

Colombia has been a popular FIFA World Cup nation producing stars like Carlos Valdarama, Fustino Aspira, James Rodríguez, Radamel Falcao, and others. Now, Luis Díaz is the standout talent currently leading the modern generation.

Under the management of Néstor Lorenzo and led by captain James Rodríguez, the team has been in excellent form and is always dangerous. Colombia advanced undefeated, securing a 3-1 win against Uzbekistan, a 1-0 victory over DR Congo, and a 0-0 draw with Portugal.

Ghana’s advantage is that Coach Quieroz may know something about Colombian football because he has trained them before, but things can change, like how he has changed our free-flowing ‘Agoro Football’ to the defending style, which, in fact, most fans do not like.

On a good they they can be dangerous and play attractive attacking football with amazing midfielders feeding the forwards.

The Colombian national football team, nicknamed Los Cafeteros, has been a member of FIFA and CONMEBOL since 1936. Currently ranked 13th on the FIFA World Ranking as of June 2026, Colombia has participated in seven FIFA World Cups.

It is going to be a good game to watch, and may the Black Stars shine again.
