Ghana Black Stars Beat Panama To Win First Match At World Cup 2026

The new Black Stars, coached by Carlos Queiroz, landed in Toronto, Canada, and attracted massive support; no wonder the colossal spirit behind them pushed them on and on to grab a goal and match winner against Panama in the last Group stage match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

20-year-old Caleb Yirenkyi, spotting the number 3 jersey, grabbed the late winner from a pass well laid by number 10 Brandon Thomas-Asante, who collected the ball from winger Antoine Semenyo.

The Black Stars dished out a good second-half display to give the fans what they wanted. Ghanaians in Ghana and every part of the world joined in celebration.

Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, who replaced injured Lawrence Atizigi, ended the match making history as the only Ghanaian keeper not to concede in his first match at the World Cup.

The central defence pair of Jerome Opoku and Adjetey were towering and did a great job, just like full back Marvin Senaya.

Caleb Yirenkyi also made a record as one of the youngest players to score in duration time, while Semenyo was awarded Player of the match.

For the first time in many games, the Black Stars played well and satisfied the fans.

Fans trooped from everywhere in the USA and Canada to watch the match at the Ontario stadium in Toronto.

The Black Stars’ next game is in Boston, USA, at the Gillette Stadium against England, who beat Croatia 4-2. The English have a solid squad, but Ghana will triumph.
