Nana Yaw Konadu Advises Young Sports People At Boxing Is Love Educational And Youth Empowerment Outreach

Former WBC Super Flyweight and Bantamweight Champion, Nana Yaw Konadu, aka ‘Marvellous,’ has cautioned young sportsmen and women to be disciplined and shun activities like smoking, drinking and fornication if they want to become heroes and superstars.

Speaking at the international sports education and youth empowerment outreach programme held at the Prince De Henry Educational Complex, he charged the young learners to know Jesus Christ and practice decent lifestyles.

According to Nana Konadu, who now trains young boxers, he started boxing at the age of nine and dedicated himself to the sport by respecting his managers and coaches.

He hailed Prince De Henry Educational Complex as a great school that has offered its resources and taken it as a responsibility to offer scholarships to juvenile boxers.

Nana Yaw Konadu (41-5-1) from Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region, who held other titles in addition to the world belts, was sad that Ghana currently does not have a world champion.

He wondered why Ghanaian boxers are not fighting for the African and WBC titles.

He observed that some boxers are not disciplined, citing skipping of training as an act of indiscipline.

“I was fortunate to train under the late Coach Roy Ankrah, and we learnt a lot to result in world titles,” he expressed.

Ankrah was the uncle of Mr. Archiebald Martei Armah, proprietor of Prince De Henry Educational Complex.

The international programme was organised by Boxing Is Love, a charitable organisation under Boxraw, in collaboration with Wisdom Boxing Gym.

Earlier over the weekend, Boxing Is Boxing and Wisdom Boxing Promotions organised a clean-up and fixing of a branded ring at their gym and organised a workshop attended by 40 coaches and stakeholders.
