
Coach John Oppong Welbeck has commended Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku for his vision and commitment to ensuring that Ghana gets the best in football.
Speaking on Omashi Radio, the assistant coach of the Ghana Under-16 team, who is taking part in the ongoing CAF License A coaching course, said the GFA President has done a lot for Ghana, and he should be held in high esteem for what he has done and brought to Ghana during his reign.
According to Welbeck, who has worked with Bafour and Ajax Cape Town in South Africa, as well as Dreams FC and Liberty Professionals. Medeama and Berekum Chelsea in Ghana. The coaches have benefited a lot because the GFA has been able to organise courses at all levels.
He noted that education is key and important in all aspects of life, and everyone should embrace education.
He also said that the CAF course has made him confident, knowledgeable, and ready to lead any team, including national teams.
He hailed the course instructors and their content as well as the facilities at the Ghanaman Soccer School, which have been improved.
He said the course mates who include Laryea Kingston, Godwin Attram, Hamza Mohammed, and John Paintsil have supported each other and contributed to the smooth running of the programme.
He hinted that the intensive course is in phases, and they are gradually learning to become top trainers.
“From what I am learning and gaining, I feel well-equipped and highly inspired to be better as a coach after the course,” he expressed.
“Education is very important, and I am very glad to be part of this session because many people applied and only 20 of us were selected, ed so I am very grateful and thank everyone who has been part of my football journey,” he added.
He shared his view on the Black Stars and felt Ghana has what it takes to be among the best football nations in the world.
He supported the debate going on that Andre Dede Ayew should be sent to the 2026 FIFA World Cup because of his commitment and experience.
He urged Ghanaians to pray and support the Black Stars to go beyond the quarter finals.
