ACCRA, GHANA – Coach Lim Hung-se, a legendary figure in South Korean football and a dedicated missionary, has officially announced a landmark partnership with WAMFA (Chairman Choi) and Hoolala (Chairman Kim Byung-kab) to nurture the next generation of football stars in Ghana.
Coach Lim, known for his instrumental role in developing South Korean football icons such as current National Team Coach Hong Myung-bo, legend Kim Joo-sung, Women’s National Team Coach Shin Sang-woo, and World Cup star Ha Seok-ju, brings over 40 years of expertise from South Korea, South Africa, and South Sudan to the heart of African football.
Chairman Rev. David Choi and his father, Rev. John Y. S. Choi, founded the West Africa Mission in 1997 and Mission International School in 2015, and became partners of WAMFA together.
Ambassador Kojo Choi, the youngest son of Rev. John YS Choi, who was appointed as the Ghana Ambassador to Korea last year, sent a video congratulatory message for this event.
“Standing here in Ghana, the sanctuary and heart of African football, is a profound honor,” said Coach Lim. “I have seen the future of world football in the eyes of Ghanaian children playing in empty lots. My mission, alongside WAMFA and Hoolala, is to turn that raw talent into world-class excellence.”
A Synergy of Vision and Passion
The collaboration was born from a shared vision between Coach Lim and Chairman Choi of WAMFA, a third-generation resident of Ghana whose life’s work has been dedicated to the Ghanaian youth. Their mission is further empowered by the philanthropic support of Chairman Kim Byung-kab of Hoolala Chicken Franchise, who has a long-standing history of supporting children across Africa, including Tanzania and South Sudan.
Beyond the Pitch: Building Leaders
Coach Lim emphasizes that the WAMFA & Hoolala Football Club is about more than just technical drills. The project aims to instill the “Never Give Up” spirit that led South Korea to 11 consecutive World Cup appearances.
“We believe a football is stronger than a gun and sweeter than the temptation of drugs,” Coach Lim stated. “Our goal is to raise warriors on the pitch and honest, disciplined leaders off the pitch who will carry the missionary dream for Ghana.”
Our Commitment to Ghana
WAMFA and Hoolala Football Club are rooting themselves in Ghana as neighbors and partners. The project vows to:
* Identify and polish “hidden gems” among Ghana’s youth.
* Provide systematic, world-class training and fundamental discipline.
* Bridge the gap between local talent and the global stage.
“Just as my disciples wrote new chapters in South Korean and South Sudanese football history, the youth trained here will stand at the pinnacle of the world stage,” concluded Coach Lim. “We invite all Ghanaians to join us in this great journey.”
