
The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) has tentatively fixed June 2, 2026, as the date for the next Congress and Elections of the ‘dissolved’ Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA).
The information was stated in the press kit delivered to journalists at a press conference held on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The official handover is slated for June 4, 2026.
Chairman of the IMC, Mr. Samir Captan, said they must comply with a directive from the National Sports Authority (NSA) to ensure full and proper registration on the deliberation on the entity pursuant to LI 2477-2023, whether to register the entity as an “Association ” or “Authority”.
He noted that modalities for the Independent Medical Commission (MEDAC) are being finalised.
He named some of their achievements within a short period as strictly vetting, approving, and sanctioning several international bouts and restoring professional boxing after the suspension.
According to the former GBA President. They have developed and piloted revised medical and anti-doping protocols.
Some of the landmark events are Tarkwa Boxing Explosion, Legacy Rise Showdown, Battle of Gbagladza, Cabic Big Fight Night, RBS’s Boxing Masterpiece, and Best of Bukom II.
The roadmap to the elections has been divided into phases: the Reform Phase (February- April); incorporation, licensing. insurance rollout, medical protocols, portal launch, constituency amendments, stakeholder registration, and regional clinics. training and workshops.

The committee was established on 29th September 2025 by the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, and Hon. Kofi Adams, Minister of Sports and Recreation, to improve safety, governance, and professional standards following the suspension of boxing activities in 2025 after the death of two boxers.
