The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), led by President Roger Barnor, has recommended that e-sports be played and practiced positively as a tool for social change and development.
He said the world has now gone digital, and the GBA is also on the digital platform.
He congratulated the organisers, partners, and sponsors of the event held at Atukpa, whose Chief Nii Gonti Adjor 1 aka Adama Addy is a member of the reconstituted GBA Board.
According to Mr. Barnor, Atukpai, as a sporting community, has played a significant role and been part of Ghana Boxing, producing the likes of the late Nii Dzanie Kotey aka Alloway, David Odoi Tetteh aka Gbese Tyson, Samuel Takyi aka Ring Warrior, Theo Lopez Allotey, and others.
He advised all participants of E Boxing to be disciplined and play well to earn an invitation to play at the international level.
“We have approved sports and hope participants will use them in a positive direction,” he said.
The EBoxing event made possible by WBO Africa Bantamweight Champion Theophilus Allotey attracted a good patronage, including International Boxing Consultant Mr. Yoofi Boham, Sammy Heywood Okine aka General One representing the GBA, Jojo Ephson PRO of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), GOC Board member and former GBF President George Lamptey, Ring Announcer Sam Nana Gold Amoah, Kwesi Hayford, President of ESports Association of Ghana, Ms. Sarah Lotus Asare of WBC Cares and Wisdom Boxing Promotion, and others.
