The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (GBIMC) has concluded disciplinary proceedings involving three licensees, boxer Elvis Ahorgah aka Soldier Boxer, trainer Daniel Ayiquaye, and matchmaker Daniel Donko, following their unauthorized participation in a boxing event in Lagos, Nigeria, on 1st October 2025.
Mr. Ahorgah, a licensed Ghanaian boxer, renounced his Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) license and fought under the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) without proper clearance. His trainer and matchmaker, both GBA licensees, actively supported the bout despite lacking official authorization.
After multiple invitations to appear before the Committee, Mr. Ahorgah failed to attend. His conduct was deemed unpatriotic and in violation of GBA Rules and the Ethical Code of Conduct.
Consequently, the GBIMC has withdrawn his license, imposed an indefinite suspension from professional boxing in Ghana, and levied a GH¢5,000 fine.
Messrs Ayiquaye and Donkor, who admitted to errors in judgment, received suspensions of two and three months respectively, alongside fines of GH¢1,000 each. Failure to pay within two months will extend their suspensions.
The GBIMC Chairman, who signed the release, has directed that these sanctions be widely publicized, including notification to international boxing bodies, to reinforce discipline and uphold the integrity of Ghanaian boxing.
