Ghana grabs U-15 Mixed Doubles title at 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championships
Israel Aklie and Joanita Borteye powered Ghana to gold at the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championships in Accra, defeating Tunisia 3-0 in a dominant final.
It has been a very long time since Ghana won gold at the continental level in Table Tennis, and much credit must go to Coach Robert Amartey, who also guided the Boys U15 team to win bronze at the championship held in Accra, Ghana.
The last time Ghana performed at a high level was in 1987, and the young players deserve massive commendation.
Indeed, President of the Ghana Table Tennis Federation, Mawuko Afadzinu, also deserves tons of congrats for lobbying for the event to be held in Ghana to expose the game to young players in the country.
For Coach Amartey, this is what he has been looking for: recognition so that the sports authorities will see the toils and efforts he has been putting in to produce superstars for Ghana.
Before this golden achievement, he had guided the Ghana team to win bronze in Boys U15.
