FDA Shuts Down Harmatan Natural Mineral Water Over Licensing and Hygiene Concerns

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has temporarily shut down Harmatan Natural Mineral Sachet Water Company at Amasaman for operating without the required FDA licence and failing to meet expected hygiene standards.

The closure forms part of the FDA’s ongoing inspection and enforcement exercise aimed at ensuring that food and beverage manufacturers comply with safety regulations to protect public health.

According to the FDA, the company was found to be operating without the necessary approval from the Authority, raising concerns about the safety and quality of products supplied to consumers.

The Authority has warned producers of sachet and bottled water to obtain valid licences, maintain proper hygiene practices, and comply with food safety requirements or risk facing enforcement actions.

The FDA says its inspections will continue across the country to identify and deal with businesses that fail to meet regulatory standards.
