The 2026 edition of the GAMMA African Championship was held with Ghana parading a five-man squad, out of which they won two medals. One gold and one silver.
The tournament was held in Abidjan, the capital city of Ivory Coast, from 12 – 15 October 2026.
Africa’s top mixed martial artists gathered for four days of elite continental competition.
Ghana was coached by Tornado Bruce, and the team won gold with Gabriel Fenuku and bronze with Janet Acquah.
The President of the Ghana Mixed Martial Arts Association, Mr. Jeff Taylor, was elected Vice President of the regional body with an Ivorian as President.
Coach Bruce said the tournament was exciting and commended the organisers.
He expressed that when there are more international tournaments, the practitioners get more interest.
Mr. Jeff Taylor said it was another experience but hoped for more competitions for African fighters. He urged Team Ghana to train well to win more in the next edition.
