Gideon Nortey, aka ‘Golovkin Jnr’ of Jamestown, is the talk of the town since he displayed his devastating punching power on Saturday, September 19, at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
His record is now 10 -1-1 after he knocked out a Nigerian opponent, Yusuf Ayinde Ogunbunmi, in R2 on the memorable Osagyefo Fight Night.
Aside from the main bout between Theo Lopez Allotey and Facudo Garcia of Argentina on the Osagyefo Night, Super Lightweight Nortey, who comes from the Sea View Boxing Club, delivered the best show on the night.
Nortey will fight again on December 25, 2026, against Harsh Saroha of India, according to Greatman Promotions, which partners with Mensah Kanlow Boxing Promotions to see to his welfare.
According to his coach Gabriel Allotey aka Zico, the best of Nortey is yet to come.
“He loves training, and that is his source of joy; he is a gym rat and loves to stay in the gym rather than outside doing nothing. He sees the gym as his classroom,” said Zico.
Nortey’s only loss was against experienced 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist, Jessie Lartey, at the Bukom Arena, and though he lost on points, it was another good show that made boxing fans notice him.
He made his debut in 2024, but he has fought on many popular shows in Accra at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra Sports Stadium, Idrowhyt Events Center at Dansoman, Deep Sea Resort at Jamestown, Champions Place at Sowutuom, Aflao, and SG Mall in Kumasi.
