The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has appointed Ms. Rafatu Inusah, President of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, as Chef de Mission for Team Ghana for the 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games in Malta and Gozo.
Ms. Inusah shared the news in an emotional statement, saying, I am truly humbled and honoured to be appointed as Chef de Mission for the 2027 Youth Commonwealth Games in Malta. A heartfelt thank you to the Ghana Olympic Committee for this incredible privilege and honour.
She added that she looks forward to _”serving with dedication, supporting our young athletes, and proudly representing Ghana on this important international stage.”
The 8th edition of the Youth Commonwealth Games is scheduled for October 29 to November 4, 2027, in Malta and Gozo, and will bring together about 1,200 athletes aged 14-18 from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories.
According to the GOC, her appointment is strategic and forms part of its focus on women’s empowerment and increasing the representation of capable female leaders in sports governance.
Ms. Inusah is a board member of the GOC and serves on its Games and Technical Committee and Women in Sports Commission. She is making history as the first woman to lead the Ghana Rugby Football Union and is also a former Secretary General of the Ghana Triathlon Federation and a member of Rugby Africa’s Women’s Advisory Committee.
In a related development, Ms. Inusah has also been selected for the prestigious International Coaching Enrichment Certificate Program (ICECP)in the United States, organized by the University of Delaware in collaboration with Olympic Solidarity.
