The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and World Boxing Association (WBA) have stripped two Ghanaians of their African titles due to inactivity.
Ghana’s Jonathan Tetteh, aka ‘Worldwide ’, who beat Freezy Macbones at the Legon Sports Stadium to win the WBA Africa Light Heavyweight title, has been stripped of his title.
Also in the news is Faisal Abubakar (21-1) who lost in a controversial bout in Germany recently has also lost his WBO Africa Lightweight belt.
According to his trainer, Ernest Ofori, Abubakar was stripped of his title two months ago.
By this situation, the two champions are going to drop in some ratings, however, boxing experts have advised them not to lose hope but try and strive to come back bigger and better.
Meanwhile, Michael Abban of Black Panthers Boxing Gym, Commonwealth Silver title holder who fights at the Super Flyweight and Bantamweight divisions, has risen into the top 15 in his class.
