Winner of the Accra Inter-City Marathon flagship race: 21 kilometers will take home a total prize package of $4000.
According to the organizers, Medivents Consult, the breakdown is $ 1,500 in cash prize, equivalent to GHC18,000, and a travel package of $ 2,500 to an international marathon in January.
Speaking to the press in Kumasi, Mr. William Ezah, the race director, said the prize goes to both male and female categories of the 21k.
He expressed that second place, or runner-up, will pocket GHC 10, 000, medals, gifts from sponsors, among others, whilst the third place takes home GHC 5,000
There would be prizes for other winners in the form of medals, certificates and gifts from sponsors.
“There will be cash and gifts for other winners in all categories,” he noted.
According to Mr. Ezah, for the para version, the winner of the 21k will take home GHC 5000, with the second place taking home GHC2,500, whilst the 3rd pockets GHC 2000.
He hinted that all participants will receive medals, wristbands and refreshments from Tampico.
He said skaters will also perform in the event, which is expected to generate lots of fun.
He assured that the organisers are in discussions to secure adequate insurance cover for all participants.
