Mohammed Fall is a Senegalese boxer training at Wisdom Boxing Gym in Accra. He has been in Ghana for the past three months, and he came to improve himself and learn to be tough as a boxer.
Speaking to Mohammed Fall on Omashi TV’s flagship sports show, The Big Fight Night, he named Azumah Nelson and Mohammed Ali as his idols and said he loves clean boxing.
Mohammed, who was accompanied by his manager/wife, Fatima Fall, said Ghana is the best place to learn boxing in Africa because Ghana has produced many champions in boxing. With an amateur record of 18 fights, he is ready for his professional debut, and he says he wants to make it big and move on.
His target is to win a title for Senegal, and he feels there is no rush or pressure, but to go gradually and reach the top.
Coming from a boxing family, he believes in himself to make it bigger in the future.
The first Senegalese and African-born boxing world champion, Battling Siki (born Amadou Louis M’barick Fall), who won the World Light-Heavyweight Championship in 1922, is the one he takes inspiration from.
“It has not been easy coming all the way from Senegal to face the culture, food, weather and people, but I can say the people of Ghana are very nice and hospitable and they really showed me real love, especially the boxers and kids who play around the Wisdom Boxing Gym, I feel Wisdom is the best gym, I have learnt many new things there” he said.
According to Fall when he came to Wisdom for the first time he could not cope because the boxers were many in the gym and in his previous gym the boxers were very few, however he has learnt that socializing and getting support and encouragement and motivation from gym mates is also very special and important.
He gives massive thanks to Coach Dr. Asare, who accepted him and willingly trained him to become a champion in the future.
Mohammed Fall sees the September 19, Osagyefo Fight Night as an opportunity, as other top Ghanaian boxers are on the bill and he will be showcased.
“I hope to get a good fight and pray for victory,” he said.
