Nii Shika Sowah Gborbilor II, Okatabanman Mantse, has wished all Gas a very fruitful 2026 Homowo festival. In his usual Homowo message, he said though the La Mantse has passed and his successor has not been installed, there would be minimal celebration in that La traditional area.
He noted that La cannot be left out of the Ga Homowo festival, because if Ga Mashie and Osu celebrate and other traditional areas celebrate, La must also celebrate. But they have lost their king, so they will celebrate the festival modestly; otherwise, it would take seven years before they can celebrate.
Okataban is sited at Adenta, formerly known as New Site; he stressed that the place is now called its original name, and due to development, the area is growing with new settlements.
He hinted that some La traditional villages are Adentan, Bawaleshie, Madina Oyarifa, Paprah, Ashiay, Amanyira, Maaledjor, and Ayi Mensah, all under the La traditional council. He noted that the festival brings about unity and peace; he wished that all people of La heritage would think about peace and practice activities that would bring peace.
He said it is through the festival that families know each other, and wished the Okataban people would also live in harmony and peace.
“Although we are not celebrating the Howowo festival in La, we have to make merry in a solemn mood and peaceful atmosphere,” he expressed.
He urged all families to focus on unity, success in businesses, and tranquility.
