The Korle-Gonno Street Festival has started with a football tournament to usher in the cultural, entertainment, and arts event slated for next week.
The third edition of the Korle Gonno Street Festival is scheduled to take place from August 7th to August 9th, 2026.
Organized by the 9Tis Crew, this year’s highly anticipated community event is built around the inspiring theme, “Welcoming Our Heroes”.
Last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday witnessed an interesting football tournament at Dr. Bannerman Park, aka Okpotsu, where the tournament featuring 24 community teams took place.
The matches, which are to select the top teams for the qualifiers, saw some fine players.
The names of the teams that registered to participate are Napoli City. Shiabu XI. Young Boys. Future Heroes, Prep FC, Angola Stars. Korle Bu Stars, Malaysia, Mamprobi Sempe Boys and Champions Boys.
Others are Young Powers. All Stars. Parliament Stars. Royal Family, Alei Eko Palace. Atlanta. Plant FC and Saaga Boys.
The rest are Dollar Family. Neem Tree. Awutse Stars, Hon. Babainho XI, Lucky Boys and LightHouse Stars.
According to the organizers, these teams will play, then another ballot will determine who plays who at the next stage.
The entertainment segment will experience the biggest stage.
